Tips on how to avoid the police in Lincolnshire
An inspector keen for people to have a good start to 2021 has given his top three tips for avoiding the police.
And the first is as simple as turning a key.
"If people want to avoid becoming the victim of burglary, locking the doors of their home is an essential step," said Insp Gary Stewart of Grantham police.
"Burglars go from home to home trying door handles, and if they find one opens they will nip in and steal."
The second tip is to stay out of the driving seat after drinking or taking drugs.
"People can only really drink at home at the moment, and so there is no need for anyone to get behind the wheel when over the legal limit," said Insp Stewart.
"We will test people for drink and drug-taking, and not only can this lead to a court appearance, but it can also mean losing your job and your income."
A third good way to avoid a brush with the law, according to Insp Stewart, is to follow the new tier 4 rules which are now in place across Lincolnshire.
