THE new season of Saturday morning concerts at St Wulfram’s parish church, Grantham, continues tomorrow with a performance by the church’s director of music, Dr Tim Williams.
The Saturday mornings series is a long established programme of organ recitals and choral instrumental concerts and an important part of Grantham’s musical life.
All are welcome to enjoy the concerts and admission is free, although there is a retiring collection towards expenses.
The series features some of the country’s top organists.
This season they include Colin Walsh, from Lincoln Cathedral, who will play on September 29, Peter Davis, director of music at Oakham School (October 27) and Robert Sharpe, director of music at York Minster (March 20).
Homegrown music from St Wulfram’s is a feature of the December programme, which has a festive feel.
Tim williams will direct the parish church’s chamber choir on December 8 and will take the baton again on December 15 when he will direct the children’s choir to perform Britten’s ceremony of carols, accompained by Brian Wilson on harp.
Dr Andrew Wyatt, the church’s assistant organist, and family will give a Christmas recital on December 22.
Tomorrow’s concert starts at 11am, although most others start at 11.30am.
