FAMILY, friends and fans of motorsport champion Dave Wells went to St Mary’s Church in Bottesford on Thursday for his funeral.
Mr Wells, known to his friends as Wellsy, was killed in a crash at Mallory Park, in Leicestershire, on October 29, when he was racing as a sidecar passenger.
Mr Wells, 61, was twice Isle of Man TT (Tourist Trophy) champion and winner of the British Championship several times.
His hearse was a specially designed sidecar and friends and fans were invited to attend the funeral wearing their motorsport outfits, which was his wish before he died.
Last week his partner of 16 years, Diane Musson, who he lived with in Bottesford, paid tribute to him.
She said: “He was always laughing and fun to be with.
“He loved everything.”
