Several annoyed readers have been in touch to voice their fury at the thoughtlessness of some motorists in Grantham.
They are backing our ‘Dozy Parker’ campaign, a long-running campaign designed to educate motorists and highlight the effect their inconsiderate parking has on other road-users and pedestrians.
We have three examples of dozy parking to share with you this week.
1. Pedestrians were victims once again, thanks to this “thoughtless” spot of parking. The snapper took the photo on Friday. She said: “I took this photo of a thoughtless owner parking their vehicle in Gorse Rise, Grantham. No-one with a pushchair or mobility scooter could negotiate the path. They have completely blocked the path.”
2. “What gives this driver the right to park just before a bus stop, on double yellows and half on the footpath?” asks one frustrated reader, who took this photo in Dysart Road, Grantham. They watched as the driver then crossed over the road to visit the Co-op store, shunning the car park to the rear. The reader said: “Whilst the driver was doing his shopping, a bus pulled in on an angle to pick up passengers, which was not ideal, causing a tailback of traffic.
“Why can’t they have used their common sense (of which this driver has none) and used the car park provided? Ill tell you why...because they are LAZY!”
3. Is this a ‘Dozy Parker’? Well the signs in Welby Street, Grantham do say ‘Pedestrian Zone: No vehicles except for access to rear service areas, 8am-6pm.’ And if we’re not mistaken, this is no pedestrian. ‘Dozy Parkers’ be warned! Park where you shouldn’t and your vehicle may appear in the pages of the Journal. Send your snaps to firstname.lastname@example.org
