Police say somebody may try to impersonate a member of the Red Cross after articles of uniform were stolen.

The items from a British Red Cross uniform were recently stolen from a parked vehicle. Grantham rural south PCSO Stuart Bowden said: “It is possible that this uniform could be used by someone to try and impersonate a genuine member of the British Red Cross. As with all people that call at your home I strongly advise that identification cards be asked for and checked.”

He added: “As a PCSO in uniform, I am very pleased when challenged to prove my credentials as are all genuine professionals. If you have any suspicions about any callers to your home please call 101 to report the incident, and if in any doubt do not open the door.”
