A fund-raising campaign launched earlier this month by Sainsbury’s is gathering pace.

The Grantham store is leading a bid to raise £15,000 for the charitable cause, encouraging schools, businesses and organisations to contribute by holding their own events.

Meanwhile, staff have organised two events to raise money – the first a dance-a-thon and the second a duck race.

The dance-a-thon will take place in-store over the weekend of March 7-8, 10am-4pm. Dance groups are invited to take part, first emailing hro.grantham@sainsburys.co.uk to book a slot.

Then on Saturday, March 14, will be a duck race along the River Witham through Wyndham Park. Partner schools and organisations have been selling ducks at £1 each, with prizes lined up to go to the fastest duck and also the best decorated.

Registration is taking place at the store’s customer service desk until March 7, and at the park on the day of the event between 10am and 11am.
