LOTS of local bands are lined up to play in the showcase marquee at Grantham Carnival next weekend.

Music always plays a big part at the annual family event, and this year is no different.

Friday night will feature Selma Therman, Brave New World, Soutwellz and Under the Covers. Entry to the gig is free and usual pub rules will apply.

Then on Saturday, the marquee in Wyndham Park will host Party in the Park. Revellers can look forward to Blues Busters, Fused, and The System.

Party in the Park is a ticket only event. Tickets cost £10 and are available at the Journal recertion and at the tea rooms in Wyndham Park. Alternatively, call carnival committee chairman Roy Wright on 07796 183392 or secretary Sharon Evans on 07717 311533.

The marquee will host music and entertainment throughout the day on Saturday and Sunday. Included in the line-up for Saturday afternoon are Dead Commercial, Grantham School of Dance, Blood Stained Velvet and Southwellz, while on Sunday afternoon carnival-goers will see Grantham School of Dance, Ruff ‘n’ Ready, Blood Stained Velvet, Kate Lavery, Arcadians and The Thieves.

Music is just one of the fabulous attractions at the carnival this year.

Don’t miss the parade through the town centre at noon on Saturday.
