Members of Conserving Grantham and Grantham’s Green Flag Wyndham Park Forum are hosting the first ever Grantham Green and Country Fayre tomorrow (Sunday, August 16).

The conservation focused event is taking place at Wyndham Park from 10.30am to 5pm.

The objective of the event is to bring together local organisations and people who recognise the importance of protecting our local heritage and environment.

The event will encourage the support of local crafts people, charities, heritage groups and local businesses.

In addition to craft stalls, there will be activities for children, the opportunity to look at the creatures living in our midst, a guided tour of the park and demonstrations by skilled crafts people, guidance from the Lincolnshire Bat Group, Lincolnshire Bee Keepers, a demonstration and talks Grantham Canal Society and a reflexologist will be available. An eco demonstration by Sustrans is also planned.

Admittance is free and all are welcome. The park cafe and additional toilet facilities will be available. Local buskers will be providing entertainment.

Charmaine Morgan, speaking on behalf of Conserving Grantham, said: “We are delighted to have had such a high level of support from across the community. We think it is important to recognise our beautiful WW1 Memorial Park both as a resource for the local community and also as a wildlife habitat.”

* As parking is very limited at Wyndham Park and this is a green event, organisers are suggesting that people who have to use cars to get into town consider parking in the town centre car parks - free on Sundays - and walking the five or ten minutes to Wyndham Park.
