KFC roadworks in Grantham put back to next year

Roadworks to improve the entrance to the planned KFC restaurant in Harlaxton Road have been put back to next year.

The works have been postponed following a delay over legal issues. They were due to go ahead this week.

The work is now set to start on January 6 2014 and finish on 14 February 2014, subject to weather conditions.

A section of Harlaxton Road, just north of the crossroads with Springfield/Trent Road, will be widened to provide an area for cars to wait before turning into the site.

Temporary four-way traffic lights will be in operation throughout the six week period. Delays are expected in the area and so drivers are advised to plan their journeys in advance and, where possible, avoid the area.

The work is needed in order to provide a suitable entrance for the new restaurant and to prevent congestion in the town. The new KFC is being built on the site of the former Isaac Newton pub. It is expected to create up to 40 jobs.

Lincolnshire County Council, as the local highways authority, is responsible for monitoring the road works to make sure they comply with Department for Transport standards.
