‘Lead thieves will not win’ says Billingborough priest

A priest has praised his community and vowed they will not be beaten after cruel thieves stole a large amount of lead from a village church.

The lead above the South aisle of St Andrew’s Church in Billingborough was plundered by the thieves sometime between Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning last week.

Father Neil Knox, interim priest in charge of of the benefice of the Billingborough group, said: “The community are rallying round us. They have put a big hamper in the Co-op for a raffle where all of the proceeds will go towards helping us to re-roof.
