Legion killjoys slapping taxpayer in the face

Have your say

The critical comments from many Journal readers about the proposal to revoke Barrowby Royal British Legion’s entertainment licence must strike a chord with thousands of local people who enjoy live music.

The entertainment tax is one of the nastiest ways the previous government devised to rip more money off pubs and clubs, forcing many to close and thus depriving local people of leisure and pleasure.

A licence which used to cost a few pounds now costs hundreds, involving senseless, costly ‘health and safety’ inspections of premises which already comply.

The local official killjoys are, apparently, welcoming the opportunity to use legislation to flex their bureaucratic muscles and deliver a slap in the face to Barrowby RBL members, clearly demonstrating their contempt for the people who pay their salaries and pensions.
