Lincolnshire County Council election results Grantham North: Conservative candidate re-elected




A Conservative candidate has won a clear majority after gaining support from voters.

Ray Wootten has been chosen to represent people in Grantham North on Lincolnshire County Council after gaining 2,130 votes at the election.

Two other candidates were also in the running, Wayne Hasnip (Lab) with 525 votes, and Ian Simmons (Green) with 353 votes.

At the count, which took places at the Meres Leisure Centre in Grantham, he thanked the other candidates for a 'very successful campaign'.

He also set out his priorities. Coun Wootten said: "My focus has been, and always will be the community I serve.

"My second focus is Grantham hospital. That focus will never die until we return the hospital's A&E to 24/7."

The election had a 36.4 per cent turn out with 3,022 ballot papers issued out of an electorate of 8,292.
