Police launch campaign against drink and drug driving

Lincolnshire Police launched its summer 'drink and drug drive' campaign today.

Members of the public will be able to report a drink or drug driver by sending a text message. Simply text 'DRINK' to 80800 with details of who is doing this and their vehicle registration, and where the person will be drinking or using and when. Officers will then use this information to stop and take appropriate action.

This is only to be used for non-emergency cases. If people see a drink or drug driver actually driving, they should call 999 immediately.

A police spokesman said drivers are being reminded that officers will be carrying out roadside checks at all times of the day, including the mornings, and now carry drug testing kits so drivers can be tested accurately at the roadside for drugs.
