The President of the Vale of Belvoir Lions Club made a visit to the new premises of the Grantham Foodbank and presented a cheque for £500.

Phil Salathiel’s visit was an opportunity to view the much improved facilities in Greyfriars following the foodbank’s move from St Catherine’s Road. In addition he was able to witness the vital role undertaken by dedicated volunteers in supporting the less fortunate within the community.

Mr Salathiel said: “Our club has enjoyed a long association with the Foodbank and our members have, whenever possible, tried to help and support their much needed and vital role in practical ways. After a hugely successful bonfire and firework display we are so pleased that we are now able to make this donation which will hopefully go some way in providing relief and comfort to those who find themselves in deeply troubling and worrying times and with a need of real non-judgmental support. As an organization we have always relied heavily on the generosity and goodwill of others. It is therefore only natural that we wish to continue to share it

to benefit others.”

Mr Salathiel presented the cheque to Grantham Foodbank coordinator Brian Hanbury.
