A GENEROUS donation has been presented to the Grantham branch of Marie Curie Cancer Care.
Grantham Lions Club president Godfrey Mackinder this week handed over a cheque for £600, a portion of the money raised through the Lions’ annual variety show at the Guildhall in May.
The charity was chosen as the recipient of the cash because of the hard work its nurses do within the county.
Godfrey said: “It’s good to be able to support Marie Curie.
“The variety show itself went very well and the support was very good.”
The Guildhall hosted the popular annual show on May 3.
Among the acts who starred in it were Lee Robbins, Maddie Rowland, Charmaine Galtress, Jake Muffett and Major Dennis Hannant, as well as the Grantham School of Dance, Belvoir Wassailers and the Harrowby Singers.
Godfrey said: “Thank you to the Guildhall Arts Centre staff for being very helpful and providing excellent box office facilities, to the Grantham Journal for their write-up and speedy review, and shopkeepers and pub landlords for displaying posters.
“Also, a big thank you to all the people who bought tickets for the show, it is very much appreciated.”
