A reader has questioned why nothing is being done about litter strewn across The Paddock in Grantham.

Mark Taylor contacted the Journal to say youths are leaving litter and even lighting fires in the area between Stonebridge Road and St Catherine’s Road.

He said: “When will the police start clamping down? The youths responsible are having fires and motorbikes are going into the paddock too. There is no need for this behaviour. It costs all of us money to clear it up!”

A spokesperson for South Kesteven District Council said: “We have not witnessed an increase in litter in the area of The Paddock recently and have received no increase in reports of litter-related problems in the area.

“As with all of the open spaces we are responsible for in the district we monitor areas carefully and ask residents to report issues to us online at www.southkesteven.gov.uk”

Lincolnshire Police have been contacted for a comment.
