A primary school has raised the magnificent sum of £3,285.39 for Sport Relief.

The school council at Long Bennington Academy organised a sponsored ‘Run a Mile’ in which every child in the school participated. The field was measured by the council which then set the number of laps everyone had to run to cover a mile.

Headteacher Becky King described the amount raised as “staggering”. She said: “What was so brilliant about the event was the spirit that we all ran in. Despite it being a cold and wet Friday afternoon, they were all in good spirits. The older children even ran with their younger ‘buddies’ to help and support them achieve their mile and raise as much money as they could for Sport Relief. We are very proud of our achievements!”
