Lorry driver dies following incident on Barrowby Road in Grantham

A lorry driver has died after his vehicle crashed into a parked car on Barrowby Road in Grantham this morning.

Police believe the man, in his 50s and from Metheringham, may have fallen ill at the wheel. He was taken to Grantham hospital.

The accident happened at about 7am this morning. The lorry crossed the carriageway as it was heading towards the railway bridge at the bottom of Barrowby Road and struck a parked car on the other side of the road. Nobody else was injured in the incident.

The road was closed to traffic by police but has since been reopened.

Anybody who witnessed the accident is asked to call the police on 101, quoting incident number 42 of February 6.
