Lower limits on affordable housing in Grantham are condemned as council adopts Local Plan

A district councillor has slammed the lower number of affordable houses that developers will be required to build in Grantham over the coming years.

Councillor Phil Dilks was speaking at the full meeting of South Kesteven District Council on Thursday when the Local Plan was adopted. Under the plan, more than 18,800 houses will be built in the district between 2011 and 2036 with more than half of those in Grantham.

Coun Dilks said he welcomed the Local Plan and praised those who had worked on its over many years. But he said he had some concerns over affordable housing because a 'fixed' minimum amount of affordable housing did not have to be adhered to by developers.
