Main Street in Belton to close for two weeks for drainage

Work to improve drainage outside Belton House will mean the road through the village will be closed for a fortnight.

The drainage improvements for Main Street, Belton, will start on Monday (February 29).

A Lincolnshire County Council spokesman said: “The improvements are required to remove standing water on the carriageway outside Belton House and prevent damage to the highway, adjacent verges and nearby boundary walls. The works involve the replacement and enlargement of the existing drainage system, which will increase storage capacity, while maintaining current discharge rates into the River Witham.”

He added: “The Main Street will be closed to traffic for two weeks to allow the construction works to go ahead. It is hoped that the works will be completed before the Easter holiday season. A local diversion will be in operation to maintain access to both Belton House and the village.”
