Firefighters fought a major blaze which destroyed six units at a Cotgrave industrial site last night.

Scores of firefighters attended the scene at the Hollygate Industrial Park at about 8pm. People living nearby reported hearing a loud explosion.

Fire crews from Bingham, West Bridgeford, Arnold, Carlton, Newark, Stockhill and central Nottingham went to the blaze. An aerial ladder, specialist rescue unit and environmental pollution unit were also on the scene. A few crews were still at site this morning damping down.

Hollygate Lane was still closed this morning. Residents reported seeing thick plumes of black smoke rising high into the air and a ring of smoke hanging above the blaze.
