Man and woman charged with donation box theft from Grantham church

By Grantham Reporter

A man and a woman have been arrested and charged with stealing from a church donation box in Grantham.

Rianne Kiddle, 24, of no fixed address has been charged with the theft, which took place at St Wulfram's Church, Grantham, on Monday (January 28)

Paul Burns, 38, of no fixed address, has also been charged with theft.

Both are due to appear at Lincoln Magistrates Court today.

A spokesman at St Wulfram's Church said: "They were captured on our CCTV system which we handed in to the police. We've been told that they were arrested after being spotted by CCTV operators in the marketplace in Grantham yesterday."

After discovering the theft earlier this week, father Stuart Cradduck, rector of St Wulfram's, said: “It costs £500 per day to simply keep St Wulfram’s open. Despite the assumptions of many, we as every church, need to raise money each year to send to the central church authorities and do not receive any government or central church subsidies or grants."
