Man denies charge after distraction theft of £23,000 from 93-year-old in Grantham bank

A 48-year-old man has today denied conspiracy to steal following the theft of £23,000 from a 93-year-old war veteran in December who was distracted in NatWest Bank in Grantham.

Ion Anghel, of Sherwood Street, Wolverhampton, appeared by video link at Grantham Magistrates Court. He denies conspiring with others to steal bank cards and funds between October 1, 2015 and January 31, 2016.

Grantham magistrates adjourned the case to Lincoln Crown Court on April 11 for a case management hearing.
