A man who was caught speeding on the A1 near Grantham has been jailed for three months for perverting the course of justice.

On March 28 2015 a Peugeot van was caught speeding via a static speed camera on the A1 Northbound at Great Ponton. It was travelling at 68mph in a 60mph zone.

A notice of intended prosecution was sent to the hire company who nominated Robert Rawlins, 66, of Fernbank Avenue in Leeds, as the driver. He said a French man named Luc Morriseau had in fact been driving.

Further enquiries proved this to be incorrect and Rawlins later admitted that he was in fact the driver at the time of the speeding offence.

At Lincoln Crown Court on March 24 he was given a three month prison sentence.
