Officers are appealing for witnesses and information after a man was assaulted in Grantham during the early hours of Saturday, May 3.

At around 3.30am on Butchers Row in Grantham a 21-year-old man was punched unconscious by another man in what officers have described as an “unprovoked assault.”

It is believed to have happened close to the entrance of the Chicken City takeaway shop, and the offender left the scene shortly after the incident while the victim was taken to hospital and treated for head injuries.

Officers believe that at the time of the offence other members of the public would have been in the vicinity and witnessed the assault.

Anyone who saw anything relating to the incident, or who knows anything about it, is asked to get in touch with PC Jonathan Smyth on 101 quoting incident 243 of May 3.
