Man who died on level crossing was from Grantham

A man who died after reportedly being struck by a train near Sleaford last week was from Grantham.

The British Transport Police (BTP) were called to the Quarrington level crossing on Monday shortly after 7.30pm following a report that a man had been struck by a train.

A BTP spokesman said the man has since been formally identified as Alan John Nice, 57, from Grantham.

The spokesman added: “The man’s family have been informed and an inquest opened and adjourned on Thursday, December 4.”

The incident is being treated as ‘non-suspicious’, the spokesman said.
