Memorial hall in Great Gonerby is awarded grant




A village memorial hall has been awarded a grant to help improve their multi-games area.

WREN’s FCC Community Action Fund, has awarded Great Gonerby Memorial Hall, Belton Lane, with a grant of £23,570, which will be used to purchase a new artificial grass surface.

Chairman of the hall, Ian Skellern, believes the improved facility will make a huge difference to people of all ages living in the area.

He said: “This project will provide a real boost to the people of Great Gonerby. It’s fantastic that WREN has awarded us this money and we’re really looking forward to the installation of the new carpet to our multi use games area in three months’ time.”

WREN is a not-for-profit business that awards grants for community, biodiversity and heritage projects from funds donated by FCC Environment through the Landfill Communities Fund.

Cheryl Raynor, WREN’s local grant manager added: “We are delighted to be supporting the Great Gonerby - Multi Sports Refurbishment project and pleased that our funding will enhance such a fantastic facility for local people.

“WREN is always happy to consider grant applications for projects that make a difference to local communities and we’re really looking forward to seeing this one take shape soon.”
