Fifty years ago, the Journal’s front page featured this great picture of Grantham Hospital’s catering staff.

They faced the mammoth task of providing enough Christmas puddings for 280 patients.

The photo shows them preparing the mix, and, of course, adding the all important finishing touch of half a pint of brandy, with head cook Eric Watson doing the honours.
