Memory Lane: St Peter’s Hill Players’ ‘Nuts In May’ revue was over the top

St Peter’s Hill Players comedy specialists excelled themselves in their production of ‘Nuts in May’ which played at Grantham’s Congregational Church.

A glowing revue of the May 1971 production in the Grantham Journal said they really went “over the top” as they entertained with more than two hours of non-stop humour, revealing the troupe’s talents as actors, singers, dancers and comedians.

The production called for speed as they had to manoeuvre around 36 set changes and costumes on a very small stage.

The show had no producer, with the revue being the sole creation of scriptwriters and long-standing Players Brian Hickingbotham, Michael Parker and John Pye.
