This picture of a crowd outside the Granada Club bingo hall in St Peter’s Hill in the 1970s has been sent in by regular contributor Michael Matsell.

The picture shows the bingo hall, formerly a cinema, in between the In Touch card shop and the Guildhall Tavern. Further along to the left is Mackay’s, a photography shop which was formerly owned by well-known local photographer Walter Lee.

Do you recognise anybody in the picture or do you know what the event was?

Michael has also sent in this picture, right, of Chambers dress shop in High Street, which was run by Gerry Britain. He says that across the road was Chambers carpet shop.
