Memory Lane: Wonderful name and wonderful food

Memory Lane: Lizzie Drippings.

Terry Shelbourne’s old photographs of places he painted continue to stir memories for Journal readers, including this of the wonderfully named café Lizzie Drippings.

On seeing the picture on our Facebook page, Paul Broderick said: “I worked as a waiter there around 1981/1982 when my grandparents owned it, after I progressed from pot washer on Saturdays!”

Perhaps during his time working there Paul served loyal customer Ian Herbert a few times, who was full of praise for the café’s food. “Lizzie Drippings had the best sausage, chips and beans in town,” Ian added.

Don’t forget that if you have any old photos for Memory Lane you can email them to comment@granthamjournal.co.uk
