THREE Lithuanian men appeared at Grantham Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday charged with stealing lead from church roofs.
The trio are suspected of stealing lead from more than 20 churches including at Great Gonerby, Fulbeck, Hougham, Aslackby and Newton.
Tadas Andruska, 35, of Roman Pavement, Lincoln, Andrius Cereska, 30, of Laceby Street, Lincoln and Andrius Kvedaras, 29, of Maple Street, Lincoln, were all charged with conspiracy to steal in relation to the theft of lead from 22 churches.
They all also face a charge of stealing lead from a church in Sutterton and a further charge of stealing lead from a church in Little Dalton, Leicestershire.
The three men were remanded in custody to appear at Lincoln Crown Court on March 7.
A fourth man, Vitalijus Vilkys of Nelson Street, Lincoln, was charged with handling stolen goods. He was given conditional bail to appear at Lincoln Crown Court on March 7.
The four men have yet to enter a plea.
