Mermaids join in summer fete at Grantham's Avery Lodge care home

Mermaids, crabs and scuba divers were just some of the guests at Avery Lodge Care Home’s summer fete.

Residents, who came up with the ‘under the sea’ theme wore hats, masks and wigs to the fete last month.

Attractions included a variety of craft stalls, live music, a barbecue, a performance by the Creswell Dance Academy and games that the residents had made themselves including Hook a Seahorse and Feed the Shark.

The fete raised £801 for the residents’ comfort fund, which will be used towards their trip to Skegness later this month and new garden furniture.

Activity coordinator Alison Bradley, who dressed as a mermaid for the fete said: “It was a great turnout.”
