MISS Iris Louisa Morton, of Rosemary Rise, Ingoldsby, has died in St Edmunds Nursing Home, Worcester Road, Grantham. She was 83.

Born in Bourne, Lincolnshire, she lived in Ingoldsby all of her life, until moving into the nursing home in Grantham.

From 1944 to 1946 she worked at BMARC. She then spent the next 27 years as auxiliary/postmistress in Ingoldsby, serving Lenton, Hanby, Little and Great Humby and adjacent farms. For a number of years she cleaned Ingoldsby Church and the Methodist Church.

Miss Morton loved gardening and was especially fond of roses. She liked playing whist at Ingoldsby Club and enjoyed coach holidays.

The funeral was held at St Bartholomew’s Church, Ingoldsby.

Funeral arrangements were by Robert Holland, St Catherine’s Road, Grantham.

Donations were received for Ingoldsby Church.
