Morrisons to axe management jobs and create more shop floor roles
Morrisons is axing 3,000 management jobs as part of a restructuring process.
Proposed changes will also see the creation of 4,000 shop floor roles across the country based around the company's bakery, meat and fish counters.
Staff at the Grantham branch in the Isaac Newton Centre are among those in 500 of the company's stores to have been told the news.
Group retail director, David Lepley, said: “This proposal means more frontline colleagues improving product availability and helping customers.
"Whilst there will be a short period of uncertainty for some managers affected by these proposals, we will be supporting them through this process and there are jobs available for everybody who wants to continue to work at Morrisons.
"There will also be more roles with greater flexibility that are very attractive to colleagues with families.”
