Mother gives warning after man tries to drive daughter away in van in Grantham

A Grantham mother issued a warning after her teenage daughter was approached by a man who tried to drive her away in his van this morning.

The driver approached the 18-year-old woman, who does not wish to be identified, in Goldsmith Road, Grantham. between 11.45am and 12.15pm today. Her mother says she was on her way to work and getting into her car when the man pulled his van in front of her.

The man tried to sell the teenager a mattress and asked her to get in his van to go and see it. He said he had a shop in Newark. She refused and got straight into her car and went to work.

The van driver is described as white and in his early 20s and he was dressed all in black.

Her mother told the Journal: “She is a sensible girl and knows not do do anything like that. I told her to go straight to work and phone the police.”
