A motorist who admitted changing the appearance of his number plates after he was caught speeding on the A1 has been warned he faces jail.

Kyle Nixon, 24, of Peal Close, Rochester, Kent, pleaded guilty to a charge of perverting the course of justice between October 9 and November 14 last year.

Lincoln Crown Court heard Nixon was sent a notice by Lincolnshire Police after a vehicle registered to him was caught speeding by a camera on the A1 at Great Ponton on October 2.

Nixon, who also admitted a charge of speeding, will be sentenced at Lincoln Crown Court on March 16 after his case was adjourned for a probation report.

Recorder Benjamin Gumpert QC told him: “Lying to the police and perverting the course of justice by changing the appearance of number plates normally results in a short prison sentence.”
