Mr Alan Arthur Simpson, has died at home. He was 73.

Born in Dagenham, Essex, he was the son of Mabel and Arthur Simpson.

He was the husband of Alexia, father of Karen and Christopher, father-in-law of Tracey and grandpa to Albert, Rowan, Dominic and Megan.

Mr Simpson worked on the railway on steam engines until leaving to work at Aveling Barford. He then joined the Police and served for almost 28 years.

His interests included general history of the First and Second World Wars. He also enjoyed going on holidays and he adored his grandchildren.

The funeral service was held at St Peter’s Church, Ropsley, conducted by the Rev David Pickett. Burial followed in Ropsley cemetery.
