MR Albert Thomas Welbourne (known as Tom), of Derwent Road, Grantham, has died in Grantham Hospital. He was 80.

Mr Welbourne was born in Inner Street, Grantham, in July 1930.

On December 2, 1950, he married the love of his life Gwenda. They had two sons Steven and Kevin. For most of their lives they lived in Colsterworth.

His wife predeceased him in July 2008.

He worked for British Steel for 18 years and was later employed at Christian Salvesen in Easton for 23 years.

Mr Welbourne was a member of the Colsterworth darts team and he also enjoyed dancing with Gwenda. He spent time looking after his allotment and took great pride in his garden. Another pastime was watching old films on television.

The Rev June Rowland conducted the funeral service at St John’s Church, Grantham. Burial followed in his wife’s grave at Grantham cemetery.

Family mourners included: Steven and Maureen Welbourne, Kevin Welbourne, Ruby Walker, Annemarie and Peter Jordan, Lisa and James Harris, Samantha Welbourne, Michael Drake, Joby Welbourne, Holly and Anthony Jordan, Linda and Mick Dring, Colin and Agnus Walker, Julie and Kim, John Walker and Brenice McAllister.

Other mourners included: Phil Greenberry, Dave Clark, Vic Smith, Ian and Jean Greetham, Miriam Cooper, Alan Robinson, Christine and David Coverly, Mr and Mrs Clapton, Brian and Margaret Dodwell, Jackie Beck, Andrew Matusiak, Rose Lee and Janette Clapton.

Funeral arrangements were by Co-operative Funeralcare, Bridge End Road, Grantham.
