MR Geoffrey Lambert Timson, of Village Street, Sedgebrook, has died in Grantham Hospital. He was 93.

Mr Timson was born in Kettering, Northamptonshire. A real family man, he had been married to Monica for 62 very happy years. He was a loving father to Philip and Anne and a very proud grandpa and great-grandpa to Stuart, Charlotte, Peter, Rachel and Philip.

Mr Timson was employed by Barclays Bank for all his working life and moved to the Grantham branch in 1965, where he was manager until his retirement in 1978.

After moving to Sedgebrook he became very involved with village life, especially the church, where he served on the PCC for many years. He was treasurer for a number of charities and clubs and was very proud to receive a national award for his work with the RNLI.

Mr Timson was a great sportsman and enjoyed playing hockey, cricket, tennis, badminton and golf. He was seniors captain at Belton Park Golf Club in 1982/83, where he continued playing until he was 86 years of age. He was a kind, caring and considerate man, a cheerful, sociable person and a true gentleman in every sense of the word.

The Rev Lilian Hall conducted the funeral service at St Lawrence Church, Sedgebrook. Burial followed in the churchyard.
