MR Russell Gilbourne, of Gorse Road, Grantham, has died in Grantham Hospital. He was 71.

Born in Blidworth, Nottinghamshire, he was the son of Roy and Elsie Gilbourne and was brother to Linda.

He joined the Royal Air Force in January 1959 and served until September 1995, having attained the rank of Warrant Officer.

Mr Gilbourne loved gardening and sport and he was a supporter of Nottingham Forest Football Club.

The funeral service was held at Grantham Crematorium Chapel, conducted by Robert Holland.

Other mourners included: Paul Priest, Daniel Keys, Sammy Humbey, Katrina Chapman, Steve Maxwell, Tim Reddick, Sue Reddick, Mrs Slark, Jack Twycross, Brian Reed, Mr and Mrs Kitching, Mr and Mrs Concar, Barry Jepson, Mark Davey, Sharon Wain, Claire McAlistair, Eddie Berridge, Delphine Hughes, Mr and Mrs Challis, Mr and Mrs Atter and Mr Baker.

Funeral arrangements were by Robert Holland, St Catherine’s Road, Grantham.

Donations were received for Help for Heroes and Cancer Research UK.
