MR Stanley Walter Clark, of Highfields, Barrowby, has died in Lincoln County Hospital. He was 78.

Mr Clark was born in Willesden, London. During the war he was evacuated to Weston Super Mare and later moved with his family to Lincolnshire, settling in the Allington/Marston area. After leaving school, Stan worked for George Wade, of Foston, and then joined the army for nine years, serving in the Royal Mechanical and Electrical Engineers. He was posted to Korea and Egypt. His last posting was to the Army Apprentices College in Berkshire, teaching apprentices to drive. When he left the Army he continued driving instruction with BSM and moved to their training school in Putney, London. In 1966 he started training as a Registered Mental Nurse and after 27 years retired to Lincolnshire where they lived happily for 17 years in Barrowby.

Mr Clark was an avid sportsman and played as goalkeeper (he was an Arsenal fan). He enjoyed squash, cycling, rugby league and green bowls. He learned to play the accordion and keyboard and started to compose his own music. He also enjoyed dancing, socialising and easy listening music.
