MR Trevor Ernest Smith, of Beckside Nursing Home, North Hykeham, Lincolnshire, and formerly of Caythorpe, has died in Lincoln County Hospital. He was 77.
Born in Grantham, he was the son of Maud and Ernest Smith and brother of Doris (Wilks).
He attended Earlesfield Primary School and the King’s School, Grantham.
He married his first wife, Christine and they had four children, Caroline, Kathy and twins Julie and Jennifer.
He was happily married to his second wife, Pauline and had a step-daughter, Jayne.
He married Kathleen last year.
Mr Smith joined the Royal Air Force and became an air engine fitter. He had postings to Cottesmore, Northern Ireland, Germany, Denmark and Bahrain. After leaving the RAF he worked at both Kontak and BMARC. Prior to his retirement he worked at Inflite Engineering Services at Stansted Airport.
He loved cricket, having played at county level. During his time in the RAF he was a drummer in a band. He also like football and rugby and he was a keen photographer, interested in still photography and cine films.
The funeral service was held at St Vincent’s Church, Caythorpe, conducted by the Rev June Freshney. Burial followed in Caythorpe.
Family mourners included: Kathy Smith, Jenny Fox, Jay Fox, Lee and Abby, Duncan Smith, Perry Smith, Sarah Wilks, Jayne Jackson, Samantha Jackson, Kathleen Smith, Marianne, Sharon and Phil, Katy Wilks and Louis Jackson.
Other mourners included: Joyce Metheringham, Lillian Robb, Joyce Levesley and John Everett.
Funeral arrangements were by Robert Holland, St Catherine’s Road, Grantham.
Donations were received for the Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire Air Ambulance and The Dogs Trust.
