MRS Annie Hogben, of Grantham and the Isle of Islay, has died at home. She was 67.
Born in Drumaroad, County Down, Northern Ireland, to Ellen and Shamus McCabe, she was the fifth child and twin to Mary, sister to Benny, Clare, Jim and Frank.
At the age of eight she moved to Derby, England, with her family.
After finishing her education she took employment with Qualcast, as a secretary. It was while working there that she met her future husband Robert.
She lived in various places in England, Scotland and Wales, due to her husband’s career. They eventually settled in North Witham in 1984, before moving to Grantham in 2000, where they continued to enjoy their retirement.
The couple enjoyed their holidays, but especially in Islay, so much so they bought a property on the island, dividing their time between Islay and Grantham.
Following her husband’s untimely death, she continued to visit Islay, going at least four times a year until ill health prevented her from doing so in late 2011.
Mrs Hogben had many hobbies, gardening, reading, ballet, theatre and cinema to mention a few. She was an avid follower of tennis, an adopted Andy Murray fan through her Scottish links.
A loving mother and grandmother, she will be fondly remembered and missed by her family and many friends.
The funeral service was held at Grantham Crematorium Chapel, conducted by Charlotte Graham.
