MRS Doris Lawson, of Barrowby Gate, Grantham, and formerly of Ryton, Tyne and Wear, has died in Grantham Hospital. She was 79.

The daughter of Sarah and Clarence Reeve, she was born in Chester-le-Street, County Durham, in March 1932, the youngest of eight children.

After leaving school she did clerical work and spent most of her working life employed by The National Coal Board as a typist/personal assistant. She married Les in 1956 and their daughter, Christine, was born in 1959. Mrs Lawson was a loving mum and later loving grandma to Louise, Sarah and Andrew.

Mrs Lawson remarried in 1988 and spent 21 happy years in Crawcrook with Jack.

She loved dogs, but especially Tony, who became her constant companion when Jack sadly died.

In her earlier years she enjoyed dancing and going out with friends. She was always a keen supporter of Newcastle United Football Club. Mrs Lawson also enjoyed shopping, clothes, going out for meals, television and spending time with her family.

The Rev John Bruce conducted the funeral service at Grantham Crematorium Chapel, which was attended by family and friends. Funeral arrangements were by Co-operative Funeralcare, Bridge End Road, Grantham.
