MRS Grace Adelaide Elam, of Grantham, has died in Grantham Hospital. She was 90.

She was born in Mile End, London.

Mrs Elam leaves two children, Jeanie and Michael, two granddaughters, Lisa and Louise and seven great-grandchildren.

She was an institution, and a member of the wartime generation who were a breed apart and whom we owe a great debt to. A sentiment which should not be forgotten.

Mrs Elam was a seamstress, a member of the WAAF and a housewife and mother.

Her interests included dressmaking, knitting, crossword puzzles and Sudoku and travel.

The Rev June Rowland conducted the funeral service at Grantham Crematorium Chapel.

Family mourners included: Michael Elam, Jean Cowie, Joan Elms, Jim Elms, Eileen Brown, Albert Brown, Violet Shea, Connie Shea, Hilda Watley, Arthur Watley, Steve Watley, Jackie Watley, David Preou, Margaret Hogger, David Hogger, Lisa Smith, Maisy Smith, Nigel Andrews and Jack Goldsmith.

Other mourners were: Mr and Mrs Gregory.

Funeral arrangements were by David Holland Funeral Directors, London Road, Grantham.
