MRS Grace Barbara Willows (nee Orrey), known as Betty, of Londonthorpe, has died. She was 85.

Born at her family’s farm in Dembleby, near Sleaford, she had three brothers, Philip, Tom and David and one sister, Beryl. Her brother Philip predeceased her.

She was educated at Sleaford Girls High School.

She lived on the family farm prior to her marriage to Cyril Willows at the age of 19, and they made their home in Londonthorpe. They had a son, Richard.

As well as taking care of her family, Mrs Willows worked in the office of the family building business. She also carried out voluntary work, transporting hospital patients, especially children, with whom she had a great rapport.

She was a very able seamstress and she also took great pleasure in teaching her granddaughter to cook.

In later life she travelled to many countries, including America, Australia, Bali and many countries in Europe.

After the tragic death of her husband, she remained living in Londonthorpe, where she took an active interest in politics, the stock market and current affairs.

Mrs Willows also took a keen interest in her grandchildren, Simon and Laura and especially her great-grandchildren, Harry, Charlotte and Gene.

The funeral service was held at Grantham Crematorium Chapel, conducted by the Rev John Cook. Her ashes were later interred at Londonthorpe Church.

Family mourners included: Richard and Jeanette Willows, Laura and Ashley Reek, Simon Willows and Natalie Williamson, Gemma Welch, Tom Crowther, Beryl Culpin, David Orrey and Cath, John and Christine Willows, Philip and Audrey Willows, Jaqueline Stanley, Pat and Geoff Wench, Alan and Penny Took, Bill and Becky Kirkby, Nina Orrey, John and Muriel Goodacre and John Todd.

Other mourners included: Mavis Glen, Alex Cox, Joyce and Ivan Money and Hayley Harrison.

Funeral arrangements were by Co-operative Funeralcare, Bridge End Road, Grantham.

Donations were received for the British Heart Foundation.
