MRS Joan Tidy has died in the Queen’s Medical Centre, Nottingham. She was 81.

Born in Nottingham, in December 1929, she was the daughter of William and Mabel King (nee Covill). Her father was a wholesale fruit salesman and both her parents came from Lincolnshire.

She had a younger brother and sister, Arthur and Gill, and the family lived in Carlton, overlooking Colwick Woods. She moved to West Bridgford when she was a teenager. In 1955 she married Brian Tidy at St Giles Church. They had two sons, David and Andrew. The family lived at a number of places, but always in Nottinghamshire - West Bridgford, Bramcote and Whatton in the Vale.

In 1992 Mrs Tidy suffered a serious stroke and her husband cared for her until her death.

The funeral service was held at Aslockton Church, conducted by the Rev Karl Przywala. Cremation followed in Grantham.

Funeral arrangements were by William Roberts and Sons, Devon Lane, Bottesford. Donations for the Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance amount to £1,151.30 to date.
