MRS Lilian Violetta Wright, of Roxholm Hall Care Home, has died in Lincoln County Hospital. She was 91.

She was born in Worthing, Sussex, and was the eldest of nine children.

In 1941 she moved to Lincolnshire to work for the Land Army in the Forestry division.

She lived in Kirkby Underwood, where she later married William Green. They had two children, Christine and Dennis.

For many years she worked as a post mistress.

Following the death of her first husband, she later met and married William Wright, a farmer, and they lived in Fulbeck. She later moved to Barkston, where she was an active member of the WI and a regular churchgoer.

Mrs Wright enjoyed spending time with her family. Her other interests were gardening and travelling, having taken many trips home and abroad.

The funeral service was held at St Nicholas Church, Barkston, conducted by the Rev Alan Littlewood. Burial followed in the village.

Family mourners included: Christine and Alan Rowell, Dennis and Carole Green, Mr and Mrs E. Anderson, Steve and Sheryl Crofts, Simon and Dawn Crofts, Rachael Green, Hazel and Darren Bell and Adrian and Heather Green.

Other mourners included: Judith Ette, Peter Clarke, Mary Rowell, Margaret Elnor, Christine Wyles, Betty Lane, Jill Hawkins, Mave Streeter, Joan Ingamells, Mrs P. Grossett, Marjorie Walsh and Joyce Thorsen.

Funeral arrangements were by Robert Holland, St Catherine’s Road, Grantham.
