MRS Olive Mary Gromett, of St Edmunds Nursing Home, Grantham, and previously of Arnoldfield Court, Grantham, has died in Grantham Hospital. She was 85.
She was born in Dowsby, near Bourne, Lincolnshire, the daughter of Mary and Ernest Slator and fourth child in a family of seven.
In 1952 she married Walter (Bub) and they lived at both Holbeach and Moulton, Lincolnshire, before moving to Grantham in 1999 to be near to their daughter Susan and her family.
Mr Gromett predeceased her in 2000.
After leaving school at the age of 14 she went into service at Dunsby and Bottesford. She then worked in agriculture until moving to Halmer Grange Care Home in Spalding and later in the kitchen at Moulton Primary School.
Mrs Gromett enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her two grandsons. She enjoyed old time dancing and loved her garden and greenhouse, spending many happy hours in them. She like gatherings with her family and friends and also reading and watching the birds and squirrels in her garden.
The funeral service was held at Grantham Crematorium Chapel, conducted by Canon Christopher Andrews.

Funeral arrangements were by Robert Holland, St Catherine’s Road, Grantham.
Donations were received for the NSPCC.
